In December 2015, my colleagues and I took the helm and the responsibility of one of the largest ports in the southeastern Mediterranean.
Based on timeless human values and our own political perception;
Utilizing scientific knowledge and international experience from other ports in the Mediterranean and beyond;
Cooperating with the local government of 1st and 2nd degree, the stakeholders and the productive forces;
Relying on the animate potential of the organisation.
We strive daily to inject a new concept of collective action that promotes our visionary and strategic plan.
We aim at the development of all areas of activity of the port, rendering it the largest port of Crete, a real living organism, a wide open door from the sea to the city and from the city to the sea, a portal to the Southeastern Aegean Sea.
We are optimistic, we love our island and the sea and the bet for us is to be true to our word.

The Heraklion Port Authority S.A. has developed an ambitious Strategic Developmental Plan. A project that seeks to exploit in the best way possible all the comparative advantages and extent of the Heraklion Port, for the benefit of the country and the society. This developmental plan has taken into account the proximity of the port to the large urban complex of the city of Heraklion, as well as its proximity to important historical monuments.
The so-called "master plan" is the consistent and figurative summary of the organisation’s developmental plan. Based on this plan, the Board of Directors strives to improve the services provided to the (regular) passenger shipping, to further develop the cruise with special infrastructures and initiatives, to organize effectively and with international scope the freight areas of the port and to exploit in the best and friendliest way - to the city and citizens - the land zone, for the development of sea/sailing tourism and recreation areas(catering, sports, culture).
The long-term strategic plan of the company is a realistic approach to the possibilities of the port of Heraklion and the activities that can be developed within the limits of liability of the Heraklion Port Authority S.A. All interventions carried out by the Organisation seek to serve in the best way possible, many professional sectors and all permanent (or periodic) users of the port.
